Paprika Mix
Love my Nature · 12 Saatgutpositionen · 144 Samen
Dein Paprikamix
So startest du
Lieferumfang laut Packungsangabe: 12 Positionen × 12 Samen = 144 Samen.
Abhärten – an draußen gewöhnen
Was wirklich verschieden ist

Achtung: keine garantiert milde Snackpaprika!

Love my Nature · 12 seed selections · 144 seeds
Your pepper mix
From sweet snack peppers to Spanish frying peppers: grow your mix from seed to harvest. All twelve selections are Capsicum annuum. Their early care is similar, but space, ripe colour and picking stage differ.
Getting started
- Prepare clean pots with drainage holes, saucers, seed compost, labels and a thermometer. A thermostatic heat mat can help. Start only as many seeds as you can accommodate as adult plants.
- Label each selection and sowing date. Moisten the compost, fill the pots and sow singly or a few centimetres apart. Cover with 0.5–1 cm of compost, firm lightly and water gently.
- Keep the compost evenly moist, never waterlogged. Aim for 24–28 °C in the compost and check daily. Vent a clear cover daily and remove it when seedlings emerge, usually in 7–21 days; cooler sowings take longer.
- Immediately give seedlings very bright light, about 18–24 °C by day and 16–18 °C at night. A dark, warm room is unsuitable. If needed, use grow lights according to their instructions. Avoid cold draughts and scorching midday sun at the window.
Pack contents supplied by Love my Nature: 12 selections × 12 seeds = 144 seeds. Topepo contains 6 seeds for red fruit and 6 for yellow fruit; Patio is a snack-pepper mix with red, yellow and orange fruit. Neither equal colour proportions nor 144 plants are guaranteed.
Growing the mix – step by step
When to start indoors
For central Europe, February–March is a useful starting point. Allow about 8–10 weeks before planting out, sometimes longer depending on development. Very early sowing needs extra light. A greenhouse is particularly useful in cool or northern areas. In warmer southern regions, follow local frost risk and summer heat, not the language you are reading.
Pricking out and potting on
Pricking out means separating crowded seedlings. Wait for the first true leaves after the two initial seed leaves. Moisten the compost, loosen roots carefully with a spoon and hold a leaf rather than the fragile stem. Put each seedling into its own 8–10 cm pot, fill around it and water. Move plants from individual cells with their root ball intact.
Hardening off
About 10–14 days before planting, start with one or two hours outdoors in bright shade, somewhere warm and sheltered. Increase the time daily and gradually add morning or evening sun. Bring plants indoors in cold weather. Hardening off means becoming used to sun and wind, not deliberately exposing plants to cold.
Planting and spacing
Wait until frost risk has passed and weather is reliably warm, preferably above 12 °C at night; warmer is better. In central Europe this is often late May or June. Plant the root ball at roughly its previous depth, firm gently and water well. As a home-growing guide, allow 45–50 cm between plants and 60–75 cm between rows, more for spreading plants.
Direct sowing: only in a suitable climate
For central European outdoor gardens, start indoors: a late direct sowing often leaves too little time for ripe fruit. In very long, warm summers, direct sowing is possible. Wait for frost-free nights and sustained soil temperatures of at least about 20 °C. Loosen the bed, sow 0.5–1 cm deep and keep moist. Mark the sites, protect against drying and slugs, then leave one strong plant per final site. Starting indoors remains more reliable.
Containers, water and nutrients
Use one plant per pot with clear drainage holes. A practical recommendation is about 10–15 litres, or 15–20 litres for vigorous plants with large fruit; these are not variety-specific minimum sizes. Check with a finger and water when the surface starts to dry. Empty standing water from saucers. Allow for pre-fertilised compost and feed only as needed, following the label. Enriched garden soil may need no extra feeding.
Supports, flowers and pruning
Install supports early and tie stems loosely. Heavy fruit can break branches. Do not routinely remove side shoots as with cordon tomatoes; let peppers branch. The first flower in the main fork can be removed on small, weak plants, but this is not compulsory for every variety. Flowers are self-fertile; air movement and insects help. Ventilate the greenhouse, particularly above 30 °C.
What actually differs
No distinct germination mechanism is documented for these selections; the same warm starting conditions are sensible. Rewia’s breeder also lists 18–20 °C and 10–14 days, which does not mean it must be sown cooler. Small, frequently picked fruit and pale-harvested Puszta need not stay until their final ripe colour. Large block peppers need more support and time to colour fully.
Origin and history
Sweet peppers and many chillies belong to Capsicum annuum in the nightshade family, Solanaceae. The domesticated crop has roots in Mexico; many regional forms developed over centuries. Botanically, the fruit is a berry. The species was scientifically described in 1753, which is not an introduction date for these twelve selections. Where variety history is not reliably documented, no invented age is given.

Large block peppers for warm locations. In a cool climate, a ventilated greenhouse is often preferable to an open bed.
Watering and care
Keep the compost evenly moist without waterlogging and allow for existing nutrients. Loosely support heavily loaded branches.
Harvesting
Fruit turns from green to yellow. Yellow is this selection’s final colour; do not wait for red.
In the kitchen
Thick and crunchy for fresh use, stuffing or roasting.
Features and history
Do not confuse it with red-ripening California Wonder. Height varies considerably outdoors and under protection.

Sowing and raising plants
Start this selection indoors using the shared guide. Separate seedlings and harden them off before planting outside.
Position and space
Spanish frying-pepper type for sunny, warm containers, beds or greenhouses. Regular watering matters even when picking green.
Watering and care
Keep the compost evenly moist without waterlogging and allow for existing nutrients. Loosely support heavily loaded branches.
Harvesting
For tapas, pick small and green at about 3–5 cm while the skin is tender. Later fruit grows larger and red, and heat may increase considerably.
In the kitchen
Briefly fry in a little oil and salt. Even a young green fruit can be hot; cooking does not reliably remove its heat.
Features and history
Warning: not guaranteed mild snack peppers. Wear gloves when cutting, avoid touching eyes and wash hands. Do not give untested fruit to children. Recorded in Herbón near Padrón since the 17th century; home-grown fruit does not acquire protected geographical status.
Which growing position?
Windowsill
Useful for raising seedlings if very bright. Narrow or dark windowsills are usually unsuitable for mature plants. Even the balcony-friendly snack mix needs root space and plenty of light.
Balcony and patio
Sunny and sheltered; secure pots against tipping. Check water needs and overheating daily in summer. Suitable for containers does not automatically mean miniature.
Garden and greenhouse
Use warm, well-drained soil. Greenhouses or tunnels help fruit ripen in cool regions but need ventilation. Retain healthy leaves to protect fruit from sunscald.
Harvest, storage and safety
Cut fruit with clean scissors rather than tearing branches. Sufficiently developed green peppers are edible; full colour usually brings more sweetness. Puszta and Padrón are often picked earlier. Keep intact fruit cool and use promptly; refrigerate cut fruit covered. Wash, deseed and freeze surplus in portions. Discard mouldy or rotten fruit. Seeds are supplied for sowing. Leaves and stems are not food.
Label Padrón separately and treat it as potentially hot during preparation. Size and colour cannot reliably predict an individual fruit’s heat. Use tested safe methods for preserves and preparations in oil; fresh peppers in oil are not automatically safe at room temperature.
If something goes wrong
Nothing has germinated yet.
Measure compost temperature, not just room temperature. Keep it lightly moist; in cooler conditions emergence can take three to four weeks. Check for rot and resow if needed. Extra water does not speed up cold seeds.
Seedlings are tall and thin.
Usually there is too little light for the warmth. Increase light and spacing, and reduce excess heat. Replace persistently weak, rotting plants.
Flowers drop or fruit fails to set.
Check heat, cold nights, water shortage and excess nitrogen. Ventilate, stabilise moisture and occasionally move flowering stems gently in still indoor air.
A dark, sunken patch appears at the fruit tip.
This may be blossom end rot: insufficient calcium reaches developing fruit, often because moisture fluctuates. Stabilise watering and check roots and nutrient supply; do not add lime blindly.
Pale patches, sticky leaves or aphids?
Pale dry fruit patches may be sunscald. Keep healthy foliage and introduce sun gradually when hardening off. Inspect leaf undersides; wipe or gently rinse off small aphid populations. Ask a local adviser about unidentified, rapidly spreading spots.
Can I save seed for next year?
Use only fully ripe, healthy fruit. Capsicum annuum varieties can cross, so offspring may differ. Crossing does not retrospectively change the current fruit. True-to-type seed saving requires controlled pollination and knowledge of the seed type.
Can I overwinter plants?
Peppers are frost-sensitive and usually grown as annuals here. Bright, frost-free overwintering is possible but is not an easy substitute for resowing. Check for pests first; a dark, warm room is unsuitable.

Love my Nature · 12 sélections · 144 graines
Contenu indiqué par Love my Nature : 12 sélections × 12 graines = 144 graines.

Love my Nature · 12 zaadselecties · 144 zaden
Jouw paprikamix
Inhoud volgens Love my Nature: 12 selecties × 12 zaden = 144 zaden.
Heel vroeg zaaien vraagt extra licht.
Verspenen betekent dicht gezaaide plantjes afzonderlijk zetten.
In Midden-Europa vaak eind mei of juni.
Dezelfde warme start is zinvol.

Warme doorlatende grond.
Gooi beschimmelde of rotte vruchten weg.
Vervang blijvend zwakke rottende planten.
Bloemen vallen of vruchten ontbreken?
Bleke plekken, kleverig blad of luizen?

Love my Nature · 12 selecciones · 144 semillas
Contenido indicado por Love my Nature: 12 selecciones × 12 semillas = 144 semillas.

Huerto e invernadero
Desecha frutos mohosos o podridos.
Si algo no va bien
Todavía no germina.
Manchas claras, hojas pegajosas o pulgones.

Love my Nature · 12 selezioni · 144 semi
Come iniziare
Contenuto indicato da Love my Nature: 12 selezioni × 12 semi = 144 semi.
Ripicchettare e rinvasare
Ripicchettare significa separare piantine troppo fitte.
Acclimatare all’aperto
In Europa centrale spesso a fine maggio o giugno.
Smuovi, semina a 0,5–1 cm e mantieni umido.
Sostegni, fiori e potatura
Inserisci presto i tutori e lega senza stringere. I frutti pesanti possono spezzare rami.
Origine e storia
Peperoni e molti peperoncini appartengono a Capsicum annuum, famiglia Solanaceae.

Acqua e cura
Mantieni umidità leggera regolare senza ristagni e considera i nutrienti presenti. Sostieni senza stringere i rami carichi.
Raccolta
In cucina
Balcone e terrazzo
Sole e riparo dal vento; stabilizza i vasi. Controlla acqua e surriscaldamento ogni giorno in estate. Adatto al vaso non significa miniatura.
Orto e serra
Terreno caldo e drenante. Serra o tunnel aiutano a maturare in zone fresche, ma richiedono ventilazione. Conserva foglie sane per proteggere i frutti dalle scottature.
Raccolta, conservazione e sicurezza
Getta frutti ammuffiti o marci. I semi sono destinati alla semina. Foglie e fusti non sono cibo.
Etichetta Padrón separatamente e trattalo come potenzialmente piccante in cucina.
Piantine lunghe e sottili.
Di solito manca luce rispetto al caldo. Aumenta luce e spazio e riduci il calore eccessivo. Sostituisci piante deboli persistenti e marce.
Cadono i fiori o mancano frutti.
Controlla caldo, notti fredde, poca acqua e troppo azoto. Arieggia, stabilizza umidità e muovi delicatamente i rami fioriti se l’aria interna è ferma.
Macchia scura infossata in punta.
Macchie chiare, foglie appiccicose o afidi.
Posso conservare i semi?
